Cinderella - King's Head Theatre

In 2024, I had the incredible experience of creating, co-producing, and starring as Buttons in Cinderella, the King’s Head Theatre’s first-ever family pantomime. This immersive production wasn’t just a milestone—it became a major hit, earning rave reviews and filling the venue with festive cheer.

The show ran from 30 November 2024 to 5 January 2025 in the newly rebuilt King’s Head Theatre, a purpose‑built 220‑seat venue in Islington Square. As the theatre’s inaugural family pantomime, Cinderella celebrated its intimate setting with puppets by Little Angel Theatre, sensational songs, hilarious slapstick, romance—and plenty of audience participation.

Playing Buttons was a joy—the character is a traditional panto highlight, a loyal friend to Cinderella who brings lighthearted energy and comic relief. Reviews praised my performance, calling Buttons “a lynchpin for the story,” bringing “bundles of optimistic energy and endearing innocence” to the stage.

Critics and audiences alike loved the show’s bold mix of family fun and local humour. Time Out described it as “packed with talent and a lot of fun…when its elements truly mesh together,” while The Upcoming highlighted the drag humour, comedic chemistry, and the blend of modern and classic whimsy. Many noted the standout performances by the ugly stepsisters, energetic puppetry from Little Angel Theatre, and the creative set by Andrew Pollard and designer Gregor Donnelly.

One reviewer reflected:

“Two generations of enjoyment … exactly what family pantomime should provide.”

Being part of this production felt special—especially as it marked a new chapter for King’s Head Theatre, transitioning from its pub-theatre roots into a modern, fully immersive performance space  .
